The class of 2017 is approaching the end of their final year of high school and becoming adults.
As some seniors are beyond excited about finishing high school, a lot are also nervous about leaving their comfort zone of high school and entering the real world. The seniors of Umatilla High School currently have only 18 days left until their graduation on June 3.
As they do every year for the graduating class, Umatilla High will be hosting a senior signing day on May 23 to celebrate all students that are moving on to a 4 year school, 2 year school, the military, an apprenticeship or for a technical/professional opportunity.
Umatilla High School Dean of Students Mrs. April Dirksen, though new to the school, has already grown close to much of the senior class.
“I look forward to being able to celebrate all that they have accomplished and look forward to all that they will accomplish in the years to come,” said Mrs. Dirksen. “I love our senior class. They have worked hard to increase our school spirit and they are also involved in the school activities.”
Mrs. Dirksen found the enthusiasm and school spirit of the seniors to be uplifting to school morale and enjoyed being able to be with them in their last year of high school.
