The Umatilla Viking basketball teams have had a rough season in the terms of weather and game scheduling. The Viking girls Coach and UHS Athletic Director, Scott Bow said that there have been 4 re-scheduled games, 4 cancelled games and 3 new games to balance out the cancelled ones.

The weather and travel has forced the Viking programs to leave their JV teams at home and only take the varsity squads to the Mountain Time Zone for Monday and Tuesday games the week of Feb. 6 adding a couple of missed days of school to make sure they could get the regular season games into a window in the weather.

Monday, Feb. 6 the VIkings went to Nyssa High School to each play one game with the guys losing 72-66. Even with the loss the Vikings (13-7, 5-2) hold the top spot in the Eastern Oregon League by a half game over Irrigon and Nyssa.

The UHS girls also lost at Nyssa, with the final score of 50-42. senior forward Aleesha Watson led the team with 15 points, and sophomore point guard Lauryn Journot added 8 points.
