“Come…Come one come all to the carnival” Melanie Martinez sings in her hit song “Carousel”

That’s the sentiment the Umatilla High School Robotics team, 4125 Confidential is spreading for Saturday for a carnival. The event is on Oct. 29 from 4 to 8 in the afternoon at McNary Heights Elementary School.

“The carnival is being held at the elementary school. We will have hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips and soda and we’ll have bingo, football throwing, beanbag toss, and maybe face painting,” said team member and UHS junior Paige Matlack.

The event serves a dual purpose as team members raise funds for their activities once the competition season starts in January. Additionally team members are earning community service hours – every member needs at least 50 hours during the winter months of the school year.

“As a team we travel a lot so we want to make sure that dedicated people are on the team,” Matlack said.

It is five dollars to get in the door and there will be food for sale. Middle school students can participate in a dance that will be part of the carnival on the McNary Heights Elementary playground.
